COURSE OVERVIEW

Unit:
This is an awareness course and is not aligned to a unit of competency.

COURSE OUTCOMES

Successful participants will be given the knowledge and skills to correctly extinguish a small workplace fire using firefighting equipment. Specific topics include:

  • The Mines Safety Inspection Act
  • How a person becomes appointed
  • The responsibilities of Appointed Persons
  • Inspection requirements
  • Reporting requirements

ON-SITE DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS

Participants must wear site approved PPE. This includes enclosed footwear, long trouser, long sleeves and gloves.
For delivery at a client site the following must be provided to meet the outcomes of
the course:

  • Suitable classroom

Pre-Requisites
Participants are expected to have experience working in a resource and infrastructure environment. Participants are expected to complete the 4 units of competency:

  • RIICOM301D Communicate information
  • RIIRIS301D Apply risk management processes
  • BSBMGT401 Show leadership in the workplace
  • RIIBEF402D Supervise onsite operations, as part of the Safety Leadership programme
